Floralia, Airuka Glasses, and Others
Wanju County in North Jeolla Province has newly designated six locations as Dementia Safe Stores: Floralia, Airuka Glasses, Mayukdang, Mateopsumyeon Sagwa, Sinpo Uri Mandu Sambong District Branch, and Gyeongseong Food in Bongdong-eup.
According to the county on December 16, the newly designated Dementia Safe Stores span a variety of businesses, including restaurants and optical shops. This is expected to provide a foundation for dementia patients and their families to more comfortably access everyday services in the local community.
Dementia Safe Stores are establishments where all staff members receive dementia partner training and gain a correct understanding of dementia, enabling them to better support dementia patients and their families, and to take the lead in building a robust community safety net for dementia.
When a senior citizen who is lost is found, these stores play various roles such as providing temporary protection, reporting to authorities, and guiding them to dementia safety center services, thereby participating in community efforts to overcome dementia.
The Wanju County Dementia Safety Center has designated a total of 62 Dementia Safe Stores to date.
An official from the Dementia Safety Center stated, "We will continue to expand the number of Dementia Safe Stores and do our utmost to establish Wanju as a dementia-safe city where patients and their families can live with peace of mind."
