Came to See Ros?, But a Lookalike Took Photos and Signed Autographs... "Ros? Promotion? Feels Like Self-PR"

"Actions Were Prearranged With Organizers"
"Only for the Purpose of Promoting Ros?," Explanation Given

At the official popup store event for BLACKPINK’s Ros? held in Chengdu, China, controversy has arisen after an influencer appeared and was treated as the “main star” of the event. Although the influencer explained that she was simply following the organizer’s requests, the criticism from fans has shown no signs of abating.

According to international media outlets such as Hype on December 15 (local time), the local influencer “Daisy” was invited to the closing event of Ros?’s official popup store, which was held in Chengdu, China earlier this month. The popup store was an official event focused on selling Ros?’s official merchandise and featured themed photo zones.

Signing Merchandise and Photo Time... Criticism Over “Reversal of Roles”

However, on the day of the event, controversy began when the host introduced Daisy as if she were the main star. Daisy then took photos with fans and even signed Ros?’s official merchandise herself. The fact that she wore clothing similar to Ros?’s usual style further fueled fans’ backlash. Some fans strongly criticized, saying, “Her appearance and the overall presentation remind us of Ros?,” and “The roles of host and guest at the popup store have been completely reversed.”

Criticism Continues Despite Explanation of “Promoting Ros?”

As the controversy grew, Daisy addressed the issue through her social media. She stated, “After learning about the controversy following the event, I felt it was necessary to explain. I participated at the invitation of the shopping mall, and every aspect of the event was conducted according to prior discussions with the organizers.”

She added, “Everything I did was intended to promote Ros?, and I did not receive any financial compensation. I fully recognize that Ros? and her fans should be at the center of the event. I reflect on any discomfort I may have caused, and I will act more cautiously in the future.”

Nevertheless, fans have continued to express negative views, saying, “There is a clear difference between being a fan and imitation,” “It looks more like she was seeking personal attention than promoting Ros?,” and “It’s obvious to anyone that this was intentional.”
