Imsil County in North Jeolla Province has been selected as the top-performing institution in the province for the second consecutive year in the 2025 Comprehensive Fine Dust Reduction Evaluation for cities and counties.
According to the county on December 16, this evaluation, organized by North Jeolla Province, comprehensively assessed the fine dust reduction performance and seasonal management implementation results of 14 cities and counties in the province from January to November of this year.
The evaluation focused on 28 indicators across seven areas, including the implementation of emergency reduction measures, eco-friendly upgrades for old diesel vehicles, expansion of eco-friendly vehicle distribution, and the execution of the seasonal management system.
The county received high marks for promoting a variety of policies in line with the Special Act on Fine Dust Reduction and Management and the National Comprehensive Fine Dust Management Plan.
In connection with the comprehensive fine dust management plan, the county systematically established a seasonal management implementation plan and focused on raising public awareness through village leader bulletins and on-site agricultural education promotions.
In particular, the county was recognized for achieving tangible improvements in air quality by continuously implementing effective policies such as expanding support for scrapping old diesel vehicles and actively promoting eco-friendly upgrades, increasing the distribution of eco-friendly vehicles, operating monitoring teams to prevent illegal fine dust emissions and conducting constant crackdowns on illegal burning, and activating a rapid on-site response system when emergency reduction measures are issued.
The county has set its vision as "Green Leaders Responding to the Climate Crisis! ImsilN Carbon Neutrality," and is simultaneously promoting fine dust reduction and carbon neutrality policies with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 60% compared to 2018 levels by 2030.
County Governor Sim Min stated, "Being selected as the top institution for fine dust reduction for two consecutive years is a valuable achievement created together by our residents and administration," and added, "We will continue to do our utmost to create a pleasant air environment that our residents can truly feel by eradicating illegal burning, expanding eco-friendly transportation, and strengthening fine dust management in residential areas."
