Together, they marked a new beginning for sustainable environmental cooperation between the two regions.
This cooperation project was realized through two on-site surveys and expert reviews conducted in Dornod Province, Mongolia, in July and August of this year.
During the proclamation ceremony, representatives from both sides declared their commitment to actively pursue: ▲ joint creation of the "Forest of the Future · Forest of Peace" as carbon sinks, ▲ policy cooperation on climate change response, ▲ expansion of exchanges in environmental and agricultural education and technology, and ▲ establishment of cooperation models for smart farms and renewable energy.
This partnership is expected to create multi-layered synergies in economic and environmental fields, including the transfer of smart agriculture technologies, the potential entry of Korean agricultural products into Mongolia, and the expansion of renewable energy-based cooperation projects.
Director Jeon Mi-ae stated, "Yeoncheon County's experience in practicing carbon neutrality will be connected with Dornod Province of Mongolia and further develop into a new example of international cooperation. We will continue to implement systematic projects so that Yeoncheon County can advance as a leading carbon-neutral city."
An official from the county said, "With this cooperation project as a starting point, Yeoncheon County will grow into a hub of international cooperation focused on the environment and peace."
Meanwhile, starting with this joint proclamation ceremony, Yeoncheon County plans to implement phased carbon neutrality cooperation projects from 2026 onward, aiming to establish a global climate response model.
