On this day, Chuncheon City officials met with eight representatives from Wuxi City’s subordinate organizations and bio-related companies, including the Science and Technology Bureau, the Science and Industry Bureau of the High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, the Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry Development Promotion Center, and Life Science Industry Development Co., Ltd., at Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. The Wuxi delegation has been visiting Korea for two days, from December 15 to 16.
During the meeting, the two cities agreed to cooperate so that delegations and companies from both sides can participate in major events.
Chuncheon City proposed the participation of Wuxi experts and bio companies in the 'Green Bio International Symposium' and 'Gangwon Bio Expo,' both scheduled to be held next year. In response, Wuxi City introduced its major international events, such as the 'World Internet of Things Expo,' the 'Taihu Bay Life and Health Future Conference,' and the 'Wuxi International New Energy Expo,' and agreed to positively consider the participation of Chuncheon City or local companies in these events in the future.
In particular, Chuncheon City is also focusing on the possibility of experts from Wuxi’s Jiangnan University participating in the 'Green Bio International Symposium.' Jiangnan University is recognized as a leading research institution in China in the fields of bioprocessing, food science, and biotechnology, and the city expects it to serve as a catalyst for future exchanges and cooperation between research institutions.
In addition, the two cities plan to gradually expand the scope of bio-industry cooperation, focusing on △ exchanging information on technology and industry trends, △ joint participation by companies in exhibitions and practical linkages, and △ expanding exchanges between research institutions.
This meeting marks the first official working-level conference in the bio-industry sector between Chuncheon City and Wuxi City since the two cities formally established their sister-city relationship in October. It serves as a turning point, moving cooperation from a declarative stage to practical collaboration. Both cities expect that, starting with this meeting, they will establish a continuous communication system centered on working-level officials and gradually develop concrete, mid- to long-term plans for bio-industry cooperation.
Bao Jing, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Wuxi City, China, said, "Through this meeting, we have confirmed the potential for cooperation with Chuncheon City in the bio-industry sector in various ways," adding, "We hope to continue working-level exchanges and further strengthen mutual cooperation in the future."
A Chuncheon City official stated, "This meeting marks the beginning of substantial bio-industry cooperation with Wuxi City," and added, "We will continue to develop mid- to long-term cooperation plans based on the technological capabilities and industrial infrastructure of both cities."
