Nam-gu District in Daegu (Mayor Jae-gu Cho) announced on the 16th that it had won the grand prize in the "Autonomous Administration" category at the "2025 TV Chosun Management Awards."
This award recognizes Nam-gu's efforts to improve residents' quality of life and revitalize the local economy as its core values, as well as its highly regarded sustainable urban strategies such as developing a stay-type tourism city centered around Apsan Mountain and establishing a leading model for population policy.

Nam-gu has redefined Apsan Mountain, a natural treasure, as both a city brand and the central axis of the local economy, thereby transforming the tourism paradigm. Apsan Park was selected as one of the "2023·2024 Korea Tourism Top 100," and the district has established the Apsan Tourism Belt, connecting Sunset Observatory, Sky Bridge, Laundry Park, and Light Culture Park, positioning the area as a hub for stay-type tourism. In particular, the Apsan Christmas Festival attracted about 400,000 visitors in 2024, contributing to increased sales for local businesses and serving as a representative example of a virtuous cycle in the urban economy.
Additionally, Nam-gu is implementing practical population policies aimed at making the district a "city where life stays," including the nation's first establishment of a Population Policy Bureau, an interest support program for newlyweds purchasing homes, and the creation of a birth-friendly environment. These initiatives are presenting a new direction for local autonomy.
Mayor Jae-gu Cho stated, "This award is the result of the joint efforts of residents and the administration to create 'a city where people stay and culture flows in Nam-gu.' Going forward, we will continue to build a sustainable urban model where culture, tourism, the local economy, and population policies create a virtuous cycle."
