This forum was organized to review the achievements of the urban regeneration project, which is concluding this year in the Deokjeong area, and to explore ways for the region to maintain its self-sufficiency after the project ends.
Yangju City is currently implementing urban regeneration projects in Deokjeong, Sanbuk, and Nam-myeon. Among these, the Deokjeong area is nearing the end of its urban regeneration project, raising the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the project as well as the development of post-management and follow-up strategies.
Accordingly, the city hosted the forum under the theme "The Present of Urban Regeneration and the Future Direction of Deokjeong," focusing discussions on urban regeneration policy trends and future challenges for the Deokjeong area.
During the forum, experts in the field of urban regeneration delivered presentations on topics such as urban regeneration policy trends and post-management measures, as well as operational strategies for revitalizing Deokjeong’s key community spaces (cafes).
The presentations emphasized the importance of post-management after the completion of urban regeneration projects and proposed strategies for ensuring that Deokjeong’s key community spaces continue to serve as focal points for local revitalization.
The Deokjeong Waglewagle Center, where the forum was held, is a key community space created through the Deokjeong urban regeneration project. Currently, the Deokjeong Village Management Social Cooperative operates a caf? on the first floor and a creative playground on the second floor, utilizing the center as a community space for residents.
A Yangju City official stated, "This forum served as an opportunity to summarize the achievements of the urban regeneration project and to review strategies for the post-project period. We will continue to promote sustainable regional development by establishing a post-management system and discovering related projects."
Meanwhile, based on the opinions presented at this forum, Yangju City plans to re-examine the overall direction of its urban regeneration policies, including for the Deokjeong area, and to continue follow-up discussions to enhance the quality of future urban regeneration projects.
