The Hometown Love Donation Program is a system in which individuals can donate to local governments other than their place of residence. In return, they receive tax deductions and gifts, while the local governments use the collected donations to improve resident welfare.
The benefits include tax deductions during year-end tax settlements. Donations of up to 100,000 won are fully tax-deductible, while donations exceeding 100,000 won are eligible for a 16.5% tax deduction. In addition, gifts are provided for donations of 100,000 won or more, with the value of the gifts limited to 30% of the donation amount.
A wide variety of gifts are available, including daily necessities and gourmet items.
Donors can choose from items such as "Jangsu Naju Gomtang," "Perilla Oil Buckwheat Noodles," "Kelp Vinegar & Soy Sauce Set," and "Gamae Tendon" meal kits by Ahn Yuseong, the 16th Master Chef of Korea and a black-and-white chef featured on Netflix, as well as the "Bebiere Devil Pie 3-Piece Set" and "Bebiere Strawberry/Blueberry Pie" by Ma Okcheon, the 16th Master Baker of Korea.
Additionally, more than 30 other items are available, including Korean beef and pork sets, "Hwangsolchon" marinated pork ribs, "Unlimga" kimchi sets, apples, and blueberries.
Earlier, in early December, Gwangju Shinsegae signed a "Financial business agreement for the activation of the Hometown Love Donation Program and social contribution activities" with Seo-gu, Gwangju. Under this agreement, Gwangju Shinsegae is encouraging employees to promote and participate in the Hometown Love Donation Program, while Seo-gu has agreed to expand the range of available gifts.
Lee Donghun, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, stated, "As a local corporation, we are striving to promote the Hometown Love Donation Program in hopes of contributing to balanced regional development," adding, "We hope that more employees and customers will participate."
