A man in his 60s has been apprehended by police for repeatedly breaking church and apartment windows by shooting metal balls with a slingshot he purchased from an online site.
On December 16, the Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced that it had booked a day laborer in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, without detention on charges of special property damage.
Mr. A is accused of firing three metal balls with a slingshot at around 9 p.m. on November 23 on a road in Samgak-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, damaging the glass front door of a church and the window of a sixth-floor apartment unit in a nearby complex.
Following a report from the victims, police launched an investigation and identified Mr. A as the suspect based on surveillance camera footage from the area, leading to his arrest.
Mr. A, who had purchased the slingshot from an online site, told police during questioning that he did it because he found shooting metal balls entertaining.
The police are currently investigating Mr. A to determine if there are any additional offenses and to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
