Assemblyman Jung Jinwook Named Democratic Party’s ‘Outstanding Assemblyman for National Assembly Audit’

Jung Jinwook, a National Assembly member from the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Gwangju Dongnam-gap and a member of the National Assembly's Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs, and Startups Committee), announced on the 16th that he has been selected as the 'Outstanding Assemblyman for National Assembly Audits' by the Democratic Party of Korea for the second consecutive year, following his recognition for outstanding performance in this year's National Assembly audit.

Assemblyman Jung Jinwook was also named an outstanding assemblyman for the National Assembly audit by Gallup Korea on November 14 and by the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice on November 18, achieving the distinction of winning three major awards for the 2025 National Assembly audit.

During this year's National Assembly audit, Assemblyman Jung was recognized for focusing on the protection of vulnerable groups such as ordinary citizens, small business owners, and SMEs, and for setting an example of a "people-centered audit" by concentrating on correcting the problems in people's livelihoods and industrial structures caused by the Yoon Suk Yeol administration.

Assemblyman Jung exposed the reality behind the Czech nuclear power plant contract, which the Yoon Suk Yeol administration had touted as an achievement, revealing that Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power had signed a traitorous contract that sacrificed national interests to Westinghouse. He also proved the falsity and exaggeration of the so-called "Great Whale Project," which was claimed to be worth 2,200 trillion won, uncovering the reality of what he called a "massive public fraud."

In addition, he proposed "agrivoltaics" as a practical solution to simultaneously address the climate crisis and increase rural income, emphasizing that renewable energy policy should not be limited to expanding power generation, but must also become a national strategic industry that boosts farm income, revitalizes the local economy, and achieves carbon neutrality.

During the National Assembly audit of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Assemblyman Jung focused his questioning on the crisis faced by small and medium-sized solar power equipment suppliers, who were on the brink of collapse due to the Yoon Suk Yeol administration's so-called "crackdown on solar energy" policy.

In particular, he strongly demanded institutional reforms by pointing out the irrationality of the direct production standards. As a result, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups immediately began preparing amendments, leading to a breakthrough for solar power suppliers, including those in Gwangju and Jeonnam, to recover.

He also summoned Kim Beomseok, CEO of Baedal Minjok, as a witness to directly address the unfair structure of the food delivery app market and the issue of excessive commission fees. He highlighted, point by point, how the company earns operating profits of up to 700 billion won annually, yet distributes a significant portion as dividends to its overseas headquarters, shifting costs onto self-employed business owners. Through this, he brought public attention to the need for a cap on delivery app commission fees.

Assemblyman Jung Jinwook stated, "I am sincerely grateful to be selected as an outstanding assemblyman for the National Assembly audit by the party for two consecutive years, and I believe this is the result of focusing on people's livelihoods and on-the-ground realities during the audit." He added, "Going forward, I will continue to take the lead in protecting vulnerable groups such as ordinary citizens, small business owners, and SMEs, and in expanding the economic base and creating good jobs in Gwangju and Nam-gu."
