Jaseng Medical Foundation announced on December 16 that it visited Guryong Village, located in Gaepo 1-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on December 15 to carry out the 'Sharing Love Briquettes' volunteer activity for marginalized neighbors.
Guryong Village is a densely populated area of vulnerable groups in Gangnam, and many homes here rely on briquette heating in winter due to insufficient insulation. In response, Jaseng Medical Foundation organized this event to provide direct assistance to local residents.

On this day, around 30 people, including employees of Jaseng Medical Foundation and Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, staff from the Gaepo 1-dong Community Service Center, and Neungin Social Welfare Center, personally delivered 3,000 briquettes to marginalized neighbors in Guryong Village, distributing 200 briquettes each to 15 households. Despite the cold weather below freezing, they lined up along the narrow paths inaccessible to vehicles to deliver the briquettes, spreading warmth throughout Guryong Village. After the deliveries, they also spent time conversing with the residents.
The 'Sharing Love Briquettes' event by Jaseng Medical Foundation has been held annually since 2016 to bring warmth to marginalized neighbors burdened by rising living costs and heating expenses. As of this year, Jaseng Medical Foundation has delivered a total of 17,500 briquettes to those in need.
Park Byungmo, Chairman of Jaseng Medical Foundation, said, "Just as a small spark can warm a room even when the winter wind blows cold, I hope this small act of sharing will help residents spend a warm winter," adding, "Jaseng Medical Foundation will continue to carry out various initiatives to bring warmth to the local community."
Meanwhile, Jaseng Medical Foundation is engaged in a variety of social contribution activities to foster a culture of sharing, including Korean medicine volunteer work, educational and scholarship programs, and material support. In particular, this June, the foundation provided Korean medicine volunteer services for Korean War veterans in the Philippines, held the 'Jaseng Dream Tree Olympics' for children at local children's centers in September, and also carried out bedding replacement activities for elderly people living alone during the same month.
These social contribution activities are based on the management philosophy of 'compassion for those in need.' This was also the lifelong philosophy of Cheongpa Shin Gwangryeol (1903-1980), an independence activist and doctor of Korean medicine, who was the father of Shin Junsik, Honorary Chairman and founder of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine.
