An event was held to reward startups that achieved outstanding results in this year's public-private partnership open innovation support program and to share their achievements.
On December 16, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it hosted the "2025 Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Performance Sharing Event" at WDG in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where it selected and awarded outstanding startups and collaborating large enterprises. The event was attended by more than 200 people, including Noh Yongseok, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and representatives from participating companies.
Out of the 120 companies that participated in this year's public-private partnership open innovation support program, nine startups that achieved outstanding results, such as new product and service development and implementation, were awarded the Minister's Award and prize money.
AI startup Amber Road collaborated with Ecopro on the proposed project "AI-based Optimization of Secondary Battery Manufacturing Processes" and developed a process efficiency solution that can generate approximately 5.5 billion won in annual financial benefits in the demonstration process. The company is also considering expanding the application of this solution to additional processes within the Ecopro Group.
Food startup F&L Corporation developed a high-protein, low-sugar shake in collaboration with CJ ENM and quickly secured distribution channels by leveraging CJ ENM's marketing and sales infrastructure. The company attracted a direct investment of 3 billion won from CJ ENM and plans to pursue entry into the global market in the future.
In addition, startup Forbicon, which possesses Vision AI technology, jointly developed an AI-based construction cost estimation efficiency platform based on Woomee Construction's architectural design expertise. Other notable achievements include NongHyup Bank and SwitchOne collaborating on the "AI Exchange Rate Prediction Algorithm Development Project," and Korea Water Resources Corporation and Geost working together to establish an "AIoT Ground Stability Monitoring System."
The award-winning startups will receive benefits such as recommendations for investment in the "Next Unicorn Project" scaling-up fund and incentives when participating in follow-up market validation support programs for open innovation.
Noh Yongseok, First Vice Minister, stated, "Open innovation is a core strategy that creates tangible effects such as increased corporate productivity, entry into new markets, and improved efficiency in technology development. We will actively promote open innovation with startups so that the innovative DNA of ventures and startups can spread throughout the corporate sector and enable our companies to grow together."
