Satisfaction with the Educational Environment Rises from 23rd to 11th Place
The Geumcheon Career and Academic Support Center in Geumcheon District, Seoul (headed by Mayor Yuseong Hoon), has established itself as a regional hub for public education career and academic guidance, recording 20,000 users within just one year of its opening.
On December 16, Geumcheon District announced that since the Center opened on December 20 last year, it has played a practical role in bridging the information gap within the region and supporting college entrance preparation by providing systematic career and academic information to elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as parents and out-of-school youth. As a result, satisfaction with the public education environment in Geumcheon District rose from 23rd place in 2021 to 11th place in 2024.

Over the past year, the Center has operated career programs in collaboration with more than 30 elementary and middle schools in the district, bringing these programs directly to schools. Approximately 15,000 students participated. Major programs included "Challenge! Career Exploration Team" for elementary students, "Happy Career Experience in School" for middle school students, and "Visiting Transition Education" for second and third-year middle school students.
Specialized programs for high school students also received a strong response. The Seoul National University campus exploration program, "Star Picking Campus," motivated students through special lectures by professors and mentoring by current students. The "Excellent Company-Linked Career Program," in partnership with G-Valley companies such as Netmarble, supported field-based career exploration. The Center also operated the "Career Program for the Educationally Disadvantaged," targeting around 500 students, including out-of-school youth and students in special education.
The Center's Future Career Experience Hall offers ongoing activities such as AI autonomous driving lectures, future career experiences with ping-pong robots, LEGO Education, and a personalized webtoon workshop.
As of the end of November, 635 people had participated in the Center's one-on-one customized consulting, with high school students accounting for 81% (514 people). During the rolling and regular college admissions periods, the Center also operated specialized programs for local test-takers. Intensive counseling for the regular admissions process will be offered for seven days from December 22 to December 30. Overall satisfaction with the counseling was found to average 94 out of 100 points.
The Center also operated programs for parents, including a total of six career and academic special lectures. In the parent professional certification course, a total of three beginner and intermediate sessions were held, with 75 parents obtaining professional certification in career and academic guidance.
Mayor Yuseong Hoon stated, "From the very first year, more than 20,000 people have participated in the Center's programs, establishing the Center as a key pillar of local education. We will operate programs even more efficiently and strengthen cooperation with the local community to complete the Geumcheon-style public education model, where everyone can enjoy fair opportunities for career and academic advancement."
