Achieving Unprecedented Picture Quality with OLED Technology
Set for World Premiere at Next Year's CES... Winner of Innovation Award
LG Electronics is strengthening its leadership in the premium TV market with the introduction of the 'LG Micro RGB Evo.' By combining the latest micro RGB technology with LG's proprietary OLED precision light source control, the company has achieved a new level of picture quality and aims to set a new standard for premium liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs.
On December 16, LG Electronics announced that it will unveil the 'LG Micro RGB Evo' for the first time at CES 2026, the world's largest consumer electronics and information technology (IT) exhibition, held in Las Vegas, USA, on the 6th of next month (local time). While continuing to position its self-emissive LG OLED TVs as its flagship models, LG Electronics plans to establish the LG Micro RGB Evo, which incorporates OLED technology to significantly enhance picture quality, as the top-tier premium line in its LCD TV segment.

Micro RGB is a technology that dramatically reduces the size of the light source used in the backlight, a key component of LCD TVs, and maximizes color reproduction by using red, green, and blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the light source instead of conventional white LEDs. The quality of the viewing experience depends on how precisely the LED backlight is controlled and how accurately each RGB wavelength is rendered. Even with similar technologies, these technical differences can lead to vastly different picture quality for customers.
LG Electronics aims to solidify its dominance with the technological leadership it has demonstrated in the global OLED TV market. The new Micro RGB Evo model features LG OLED's precision light source control technology, which has kept the company at the top of the global OLED market for 13 consecutive years. By leveraging OLED TV technology that controls self-emissive pixels at the pixel level, LG enables independent control of each RGB LED as a light source, resulting in groundbreaking picture quality.
Notably, the 2026 OLED TV lineup will be equipped with the same third-generation Alpha 11 AI processor, which is based on a dual artificial intelligence (AI) engine. This is the industry's only AI processor dedicated to OLED picture and sound quality. With 'Micro Dimming Ultra' technology for precise control of brightness and contrast, the TV delivers picture quality that surpasses the limitations of conventional LCD TVs. The 'Dual Super Upscaling' feature, which simultaneously processes two types of AI upscaling, further enhances balance and clarity.
According to LG Electronics, the Micro RGB Evo also excels in color accuracy. It has received the 'Triple 100% Color Coverage' certification from global testing and certification organization Intertek. This means it achieves 100% coverage of the broadcast standard (BT.2020), digital cinema standard (DCI-P3), and photo/graphics standard (Adobe RGB), ensuring optimal color reproduction for high-quality broadcasting, movies, photography, video editing, and a variety of other use cases.
LG Electronics emphasized that the Micro RGB Evo also incorporates the company's personalized customer experience, which has been steadily evolving based on five core AI features of LG TVs: AI Concierge, AI Search, AI Chatbot, AI Personalized Picture & Sound Wizard, and Voice ID. Another advantage is that, through LG's proprietary smart TV platform 'webOS,' users can enjoy an ever-expanding array of content-including art, gaming, movies, and shopping-without the need for a separate set-top box or console.
The LG Micro RGB Evo has also been honored with a CES Innovation Award from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which recognizes the most innovative products and services ahead of the opening of CES 2026.
Park Hyungse, President and Head of the MS Business Division at LG Electronics, stated, "With our world-leading OLED DNA, we have created a premium LCD TV with unprecedented picture quality and color expression. We are committed to delivering a truly next-level viewing experience."
