This roundtable was organized to share follow-up measures regarding the illegal parking issue within the commercial district, which was raised during the "Town Hall Meeting between the Mayor and the Byeollae-dong Rodeo Street Merchants Association" held in September.
The city formed a task force with relevant department heads and has held several meetings and in-depth discussions over the past three months. As a result, on November 21, the city decided to conduct a pilot project to adjust the crosswalk configurations on the urban planning roads surrounding Blocks 7 and 8 of the Byeollae Housing District. The city plans to gradually implement improvements such as adjusting sidewalk widths, changing the ratio of roadway widths, and ensuring pedestrian safety.
About 30 people attended the roundtable, including Mayor Joo Kwangdeok, members of the Rodeo Street Merchants Association, and the head of the Byeollae Administrative Welfare Center. The meeting included sharing details of the improvements and gathering opinions from the merchants association.
Um Yuhyun, President of the Merchants Association, said, "We have faced many difficulties due to parking issues, but we are grateful that the city quickly reflected the opinions from the field. We will continue to cooperate with the city so that the commercial district can regain its vitality."
