Gyeongnam Superintendent Election Conservative-Centrist Unification Coalition Narrows Down to Four in First Poll

The Conservative-Centrist Gyeongnam Superintendent Candidate Unification Coalition has narrowed down the pool of prospective candidates for next year's superintendent election to four, based on the results of the first public opinion poll.


On December 12, the coalition announced the results of the first poll and the top four candidates at the Changwon Convention Center (CECO).


In the poll, which was participated in by a total of seven candidates excluding former National Assembly member Lee Gunhyeon, the following individuals passed the first cutoff: Kwon Sungi, former President of Gyeongsang National University; Kim Sangkwon, former Director of Education Bureau at Gyeongnam Office of Education; Kim Younggon, former Deputy Minister of Education; and Choi Byunghun, former Director of School Policy Bureau at Gyeongnam Office of Education.


Kwon Jintaek, former President of Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology; Kim Seungo, former Blue House Education Administrator; and Choi Haebeom, former President of Changwon National University, did not make the cutoff.

According to the Central Election Survey Deliberation Commission, this poll was conducted by Media Tomato and Public Opinion Survey Fairness from December 10 to 11, targeting men and women aged 18 and older in Gyeongnam Province, using both wireless and mobile phone surveys.


The sample size was 1,352 for Media Tomato and 1,201 for Public Opinion Survey Fairness, with a margin of error of ±2.7%P and ±2.8%P respectively, at a 95% confidence level.


The coalition plans to conduct the second public opinion poll on January 8 and 9 next year.


However, before the second poll, a debate among the prospective candidates will be held using YouTube.
