Fine DNC, a global specialist in components and materials (co-CEOs Hong Seongcheon and Kim Jongchan), announced on December 15 that it is accelerating its entry into the global market by fostering its core component business for secondary batteries and energy storage systems (ESS) as its next growth engine, leveraging its precision mold technology and in-house competitiveness accumulated through its display component business.
Fine DNC possesses proprietary capabilities in patent-based precision mold design and manufacturing for prismatic battery components. Based on this expertise, the company has established a collaborative structure that connects development and mass production stages with both domestic and international battery and ESS companies. Fine DNC is also expanding investments in precision welding technology, large-scale press equipment, and insert molding facilities, continuously strengthening its capacity to supply prismatic battery cans and ESS structural components.
This technical strength enables Fine DNC to move beyond a simple outsourcing-based supply structure and assume the role of a "technology partner-type supplier," collaborating with customers from the early development stage. The company believes this approach will allow it to build high entry barriers and achieve stable, long-term growth.
Recently, the rapid increase in power consumption due to the expansion of AI data centers has led to a surge in demand for ESS to ensure power stability. In particular, North America is seeing continued investment in large-scale ESS projects and battery-based energy storage solutions, which is creating structural growth opportunities for Fine DNC, as it develops and mass-produces key ESS components. The company is gradually participating in projects aimed at global supply, based on domestic production.
Fine DNC has accumulated global quality standards and mass production capabilities through its experience in mass-producing electric vehicle (EV) components. This experience is proving advantageous for entering the ESS market, and some ESS component projects are expected to see increased volumes starting in the first half of 2026, contributing to the company's mid- to long-term performance.
The company is developing and initiating early mass production of secondary battery and ESS components at its domestic production base, while also considering utilizing its Slovakian subsidiary as a strategic production hub for the European market. Through this, Fine DNC aims to gradually expand a global supply system capable of serving both North America and Europe simultaneously.
CEO Kim Jongchan stated, "Although our performance has not met expectations due to market conditions, we expect results to become visible from next year thanks to our ongoing development efforts and preparations for mass production. Alongside our secondary battery and ESS component business, the foldable emergency staircase business is also an area where we can leverage our existing mold, processing, and assembly technologies, further enhancing the stability of our business portfolio."
He added, "We will focus on technological relevance and profit stability with our existing core businesses, while diversifying business risks in the mid- to long-term. By acquiring new customers and expanding our global supply, we aim to establish a stable growth trajectory."
