Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Yoon Kyunghee) has been selected for the '2026 Smart Orchard Specialized Complex Development' contest project, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Over the next three years, the county will secure a total project budget of 3 billion won (900 million won from the national government, 900 million won from the local government, and 1.2 billion won in self-funding).

The selected project site is the Gaeil Complex in Hyundong-myeon (20 hectares). Various support measures will be implemented to strengthen the competitiveness of the orchard industry, including establishing a mechanization and automation infrastructure, renewing tree shapes and varieties, expanding disaster prevention facilities, providing shared equipment, offering cultivation technology consulting, and promoting new varieties.
The Smart Orchard Specialized Complex Development Project aims to create flat-type orchards suitable for mechanization, such as two-axis, multi-axis, and high-density planting systems. It also supports the renewal of varieties to disaster-resistant, early- and mid-maturing types, and the expansion of disaster prevention facilities, helping to establish a stable production base that can respond to climate change.
An official from Cheongsong County stated, "In the current situation, where natural disasters such as abnormal low temperatures during flowering and heat waves are increasing, it is very meaningful to be able to prevent disasters, reduce labor, and increase farm income through the smart transformation of orchards. We will continue to do our best to discover national projects and further develop the orchard industry in Cheongsong County."
