The Deokjeong-Okjeong Line is an urban rail construction project that will connect Deokjeong Station to Okjeong Station over a total length of 3.9 kilometers. Since 2022, Pocheon City and Yangju City have continuously appealed to the central government and Gyeonggi Province regarding the necessity of this project.

The Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway, currently under construction, serves as a major transportation axis connecting Pocheon and Okjeong in Yangju. However, due to its structural limitation as a four-car shuttle operation system, issues such as transfer inconvenience and reduced scheduling flexibility have been raised.

With the inclusion of the Deokjeong-Okjeong section in this plan, it is expected that the structural limitations of the Okjeong-Pocheon Line can be addressed by expanding the metropolitan railway network. In particular, the enhanced connectivity with the metropolitan rail system is anticipated to greatly improve Pocheon residents' access to the Seoul metropolitan area, providing substantial transportation benefits. It is also expected to lay a mid- to long-term foundation for improving the local transportation environment and enhancing access to rail transportation.

An official from Pocheon City stated, "The Deokjeong-Okjeong Line is a key route that connects the Line 7 extension, the Gyeongwon Line, and the Greater Seoul Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX-C). By linking with the neighboring regional rail networks, we will continue to cooperate with relevant agencies to enhance the efficiency of the metropolitan transportation system and contribute to revitalizing the local economy and improving the residential environment."

Going forward, Pocheon City plans to continue various forms of cooperation and support with Yangju City to ensure the smooth progress of follow-up procedures such as the preliminary feasibility study, while also continuously sharing updates on the project's progress with its citizens.
