This agreement was promoted to jointly utilize and mutually support the historical and cultural resources possessed by the two local governments, with the aim of spreading the region’s historical value and strengthening its cultural capabilities.

Pocheon City and Cheongyang County share a historical commonality in Myeonam Choi Ik-hyun, a prominent Confucian scholar and anti-Japanese figure from the late Joseon Dynasty. This cooperation has established a new foundation for meaningful cultural and academic exchanges connecting the two regions.

The main points of the agreement include: joint utilization and mutual support of historical and cultural resources; cooperation on the exhibition, research, and lending of materials related to Myeonam Choi Ik-hyun; and joint efforts to invigorate museum operations. The two local governments plan to establish a long-term collaborative system in the fields of exhibition, education, and research, and to expand practical academic and cultural exchange projects in the future.

This agreement is expected to significantly contribute to the activation of the Pocheon History and Culture Center, and is anticipated to serve as an important foundation for various collaborative projects linking exhibition, education, and research programs when the Pocheon City Museum opens in the future.

An official from Pocheon City stated, "We hope this agreement will serve as a starting point for Pocheon City and Cheongyang County to grow together as 'the city of Myeonam' and 'the city of Confucian spirit.' We look forward to the two regions sharing their historical heritage and achieving mutual development through exchange and solidarity."
