Busan National University Hosts 'Busan Venture Startup Festival' to Share Regional Startup Achievements

The Busan National University Startup Support Group held the '2025 Busan Venture Startup Festival' on December 12 at Park Hyatt Busan to share this year's achievements with local startup support organizations and startup companies, and to promote a culture of entrepreneurship.

This event was co-hosted with the Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, and was organized through the collaboration of key regional startup support organizations such as Busan National University and Dong-A University, which lead the Startup-Centered University and Pre-Startup/Initial Startup Package projects, as well as the Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.


The event focused on identifying and awarding outstanding startups and contributors who have helped foster a startup culture, as well as revitalizing the local startup ecosystem by facilitating networking among participating companies.


At the awards ceremony, a total of 14 people were recognized, including seven outstanding entrepreneurs who contributed to the local economy through innovative growth, and seven contributors who helped broaden the foundation for entrepreneurship.


'Youngrong,' a beneficiary company of the Busan National University Startup Support Group, received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award for pioneering the global healthcare market. The company became the first in Korea to commercialize low-FODMAP probiotics tailored for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), surpassed 10 billion won in annual sales as of 2025, began exporting to four countries, and is working to establish a subsidiary in the UAE. In addition, SevenU received the President’s Award from the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, and Buba received the CEO Award from the Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.


In the contributors category, Jang Eunkyung, Senior Manager of the Busan National University Startup Support Group, received the Head of Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups Award, and Cha Eunjung, Senior Manager, received the President’s Award from the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency.


Kang Jungeun, Head of the Busan National University Startup Support Group and Professor of Urban Engineering, said, "This event was an opportunity to share the achievements of companies that have led the local startup ecosystem and to further strengthen the public-private-academic cooperation network." He added, "As the startup-centered university of the southeastern region, Busan National University will continue to provide comprehensive support so that local startups can grow into competitive companies."
