According to the city on December 15, this special lecture has been organized as a unique learning opportunity ahead of the winter vacation, allowing parents and children to connect deeply through picture books.
The lecture, titled "Communicating with Children through Picture Books," will be offered to 30 participants, including caregivers and citizens interested in picture books. Kim Jiyeon, who will lead the lecture, is a children's literature expert, the author of the picture book "Centennial Child," and an advisory committee member of Bookstart Korea.
This event aims to reaffirm the meaning of the Bookstart movement, which encourages "starting life with books," and to foster a healthy and harmonious family culture through the use of picture books. Going beyond simple reading instruction, the lecture will offer in-depth discussions on how parents and children can communicate positively and restore their relationships through the medium of picture books.
In particular, Kim Jiyeon plans to provide practical and concrete advice based on her extensive creative work and experience in parent education, explaining how parents should understand picture books and how they can use them to read and approach their children's feelings.
An official from Jeongeup Miracle Library stated, "We hope this special lecture will become a valuable opportunity for parents and children to understand each other more deeply and grow together through books," adding, "We will continue to organize a variety of programs to spread the joy of reading and promote a healthy reading culture throughout the local community."
Meanwhile, citizens wishing to participate in this special lecture can register in advance through the Jeongeup City Library website. For more details, please contact Jeongeup Miracle Library.
