Only Three Teams Achieved Commercialization Contracts Among All Award-Winning Entries
Proving the Effectiveness of Field-Oriented Educational Programs
Students from Shinhan University (President Kang Sungjong) have achieved dual success by winning a prestigious domestic design competition and securing a technology transfer to a company.
On the 3rd, at the '2025 D2B (Design to Business) Design Fair' held at COEX in Seoul, students Si-eun Bang and Hyunjung Park received the bronze prize (President Award of the Korea Invention Promotion Association). Provided by Shinhan University
Shinhan University announced that students Si-eun Bang and Hyunjung Park received the bronze prize (President Award of the Korea Invention Promotion Association) at the '2025 D2B (Design to Business) Design Fair' held at COEX in Seoul on December 3. Hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Korea International Trade Association, this competition is one of Korea's leading design contests, with 1,533 entries submitted this year.
What is particularly noteworthy is that the students' work has actually entered the market. The award-winning piece, "Fixed Gaze: The Aesthetics of Stronger Technology" (supervised by Professor Lee Hoyoun), is an innovative CCTV design that reduces visual interference. It has been licensed to ParkingGo Co., Ltd., an AI-based parking control system company.
Out of the 53 award-winning entries, only three, including the Shinhan University students' work, succeeded in signing royalty contracts with companies. This demonstrates that their design possesses both real marketability and technological value.
This achievement was made possible by Shinhan University's distinctive educational programs. The students participated in the "Tetris Class" of the Microdegree College (Dean Im Aeran), where, through the company solution project course (Technology Innovation IP-R&D Practice), they acquired both practical design skills and IP-C&D strategies. They took the initiative in every stage, from design application to contract signing with the company.
President Kang Sungjong emphasized, "This award and license agreement are valuable outcomes of the microdegree's field-oriented education," adding, "We will continue to provide full support so that our students can develop the competitiveness needed to succeed immediately in the industry."
