Uijeongbu City Selected as Outstanding Institution in Two Categories of the 2025 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation

Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) was selected as an outstanding institution in two categories-'Implementation Results of the Community Social Security Plan' and 'Provision of Outreach Health and Welfare Services'-in the '2025 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation' organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The city received the Grand Prize from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province and the Excellence Award from the Minister of Health and Welfare, respectively.

This evaluation is conducted annually to assess the performance and momentum of regional welfare projects across local governments nationwide. The city received high marks for its practical welfare policy implementation based on public-private cooperation and for improving its welfare service delivery system.

In the 'Implementation Results of the Community Social Security Plan' category, the city was recognized as a best practice for fostering seamless collaboration between the public and private sectors throughout the entire process-from planning to execution and evaluation-allowing for proactive responses to changes in the community. In particular, the establishment of customized welfare strategies and integrated service models tailored to residents' needs stood out.

The 'Provision of Outreach Health and Welfare Services' category marked its fifth consecutive award, with Uijeongbu's key achievements recognized as strengthening the expertise of district health and welfare teams, establishing a system for early identification and proactive response to households in crisis, and expanding resident-led regional welfare governance. These efforts contributed to the robust operation of the 'Uijeongbu-style Welfare Service.'

Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "This award is a valuable result achieved together by all welfare practitioners and citizens who have been dedicated on the ground," adding, "We will continue to place citizens at the center of our welfare policies and take another step forward toward 'Uijeongbu City of Care for All.'"
