Lee Sangwook, Head of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, presented awards to university students selected in the volunteer activity contest.
The Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters announced on December 15 that it held the final presentation and award ceremony for the outstanding teams of the "11th Communication Gori University Student Volunteer Contest" on December 11 at the Yangjeong Youth Center in Busanjin-gu, Busan.
Now in its 11th year, the "University Student Volunteer Contest" is a social value realization program aimed at spreading a culture of sharing by soliciting creative volunteer activity plans from university students in the Busan area and supporting them in directly carrying out these initiatives.
In April, the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, together with the Busan Volunteer Center (headed by Park Kyungok), selected 31 participating teams across five fields: volunteer education, climate environment/disaster/medical care, culture/sports/arts, multiculturalism/disability, and community care/warmth sharing. Each team of volunteers carried out their proposed activities throughout Busan over a period of about seven months.
The Busan branch of the Integrated Healthcare Community Organization (IHCO), which received positive evaluations for conducting public health education and stress relief and dementia prevention programs for the elderly, won the Grand Prize, the President’s Award of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
Additionally, the Jeolyeong Nuri Volunteer Group received the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters Director’s Award (Excellence Award) for implementing a character and etiquette education program incorporating play for children at care centers. The Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters Director’s Award (Outstanding Award, 2 teams), the Busan Volunteer Center Director’s Award (Encouragement Award, 2 teams), and the Growth Award (3 teams) were also presented to their recipients.
Lee Sangwook, Head of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, emphasized, "We will spare no effort in supporting university students so that they can practice sharing and consideration in their daily lives and become talents who live together with the local community."
