Ongoing Safety Management Activities Including Equipment Maintenance
Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that, in response to the increasing risks of various safety accidents at forest project sites and the dry winter climate, it held the "Forest Project Safety Practice Resolution Meeting" on December 12 at the City Hall Noeul Square.
The event was attended by a total of 137 people, including Mayor Park Dongsik, the Director of Citizens’ Safety, the Head of the Green Park Division, members of the in-house pest control team, the specialized wildfire prevention and suppression team, 7 representatives from the Sacheon City Forestry Cooperative, 80 employees from contractors and on-site workers, and other city officials. The gathering aimed to reinforce safety awareness in forest project operations.

The program began with a message from the mayor emphasizing the importance of preventing safety accidents, followed by practical safety management topics such as: compliance with forest project safety rules, the importance of equipment inspections, work standards according to weather conditions, recent accident cases and preventive measures in forest projects, and recognizing and responding to wildfire risk factors.
All participants also pledged their commitment to safety by chanting the slogan, "Practicing Forest Safety, Guaranteeing My Safety."
Mayor Park Dongsik of Sacheon City stressed, "During winter, as seasonal factors increase the level of risk at worksites, even minor carelessness in equipment operation or during logging and collection can lead to major accidents," emphasizing the need for strict adherence to safety rules. He also stated, "We will continue to implement systematic safety management measures, such as strengthening on-site guidance and inspections and expanding worker training."
The city expects that this resolution meeting will further enhance workers’ safety awareness and plans to continue ongoing safety management activities, including on-site training by project district, strengthened safety inspections, and enhanced equipment management.
