President Lee Jae-myung will hold a summit meeting with President Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos, who is on an official visit to South Korea, on December 15.
On this day, President Lee will welcome President Thongloun at the presidential office in Yongsan at around 11 a.m. The two leaders will first hold a small-group meeting with only a few aides present, followed by an expanded meeting including all staff, lasting about one hour and twenty minutes. After the summit, the two countries will sign an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding (MOU) and then proceed to an official luncheon. Prior to the talks, a welcoming ceremony will be held, including a guestbook signing and commemorative photo session.
The summit is expected to address measures to respond to transnational online scams-particularly those occurring in the Southeast Asian region-as well as ways to strengthen cooperation in trade and infrastructure supply chains.
This visit was arranged at the invitation of President Lee, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, on the previous day, First Lady Kim Hye-kyung visited Jogyesa Temple together with President Thongloun's spouse.
