90 Parking Spaces to Open on January 12 Next Year
Sports Center and Mini Sports Field Established
24 Additional Spaces to Be Secured by 2027
Seoul City will officially open the "Oginje 1 Public Parking Lot" on January 12 next year to address parking shortages in the area around 47 Ogin-dong.
This project was launched to improve the quality of life in low-rise residential neighborhoods that have struggled with illegal parking and the inability of fire trucks to access the area. Due to the high concentration of multi-family and multi-household residences, the area consists of many small plots, and residents have faced parking difficulties for a long time.
Accordingly, in 2019, the city designated the site as a residential environment improvement zone as part of the "Human Town 2.0" project, and after being selected for the government’s Living SOC Complex Project, construction of the parking lot began in 2022. Human Town 2.0 is a policy that supports new construction or remodeling in low-rise residential areas where redevelopment is difficult.
According to the city, the parking lot is a complex facility with four underground floors and two above-ground floors, totaling a gross floor area of 4,997 square meters. From the fourth basement floor to the first floor above ground, there are a total of 90 parking spaces, and the second floor above ground houses the Ogin Sports Center. The rooftop features a multipurpose mini sports field and a walking track, allowing residents to exercise and relax.
The city also plans to add 24 more public parking spaces by 2027 in connection with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s New Village Project. A total budget of 14 billion won will be invested, and additional living SOC complex facilities such as a childcare kids center, senior welfare facilities, and a village management office will also be expanded.
Choi Jinseok, Director of Housing at Seoul City, stated, "Through the Human Town 2.0 project, housing maintenance in the low-rise residential areas of Ogin-dong will be revitalized and the supply of living SOC facilities will accelerate. We will do our best to ensure that residents can enjoy a pleasant and convenient living environment."
