Daejeon City Dance Company Presents "Hansel and Gretel" Through Dance

The Daejeon City Dance Company will present its special performance, "Encore: Fairy Tales Through Dance - Hansel and Gretel," at the Daejeon Arts Center Ensemble Hall from December 17 to 20.

This encore performance is for audiences who were unable to see "Hansel and Gretel" when it was staged in April this year, where it was met with great acclaim and sold out every seat.

"Hansel and Gretel" features choreography by Lee Yura, co-choreography by Lee Jiyoung, direction by Kim Jiwon, and storytelling by Heo Youngsook. The production delivers a moving stage that offers lessons for children and wisdom for adults.

The story follows a brother and sister abandoned by their impoverished parents, who discover a witch's house made of candy in the forest. Facing the threat of being eaten by the witch, they use their wits to escape and return home with various treasures.

The performance emphasizes courage and perseverance in the face of adversity, as well as the importance of love and cooperation among family members. Through creative choreography, clever direction, and engaging storytelling, the show promises to offer an even more captivating and lively experience.

The show will be performed seven times in total: at 7:30 p.m. on December 17; at 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on December 18 and 19; and at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on December 20.

Kim Suhyun, Artistic Director of the Daejeon City Dance Company, said, "I hope you enjoy a happy time with your family at the end of the year by attending 'Hansel and Gretel.'"

The performance is open to children aged 36 months and older, and all tickets are priced at 5,000 won.
