Media Art Content Unveiled at The Sphere and Lake Bridge Gallery
Songpa-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) is unveiling six newly produced media art contents, created in collaboration with Getty Images Korea, at "The Sphere" and "Lake Bridge Gallery."
This partnership was established through close consultation with Getty Images Korea (Getty), which recognized the competitiveness of "The Sphere," a new local landmark. Getty, the largest content provider in Korea with an extensive collection of photos and illustrations, has agreed to provide media content to Songpa-gu to support the revitalization of public media art.
Through this collaboration, the district will present high-quality media art content to the public and expects to stimulate the local commercial area by attracting more visitors.
Starting from December 15 and continuing until mid-January, two themed contents reflecting the festive year-end and New Year atmosphere will be released sequentially. From December 15 to 31, Christmas-themed decorations will be displayed, followed by media art content featuring New Year’s greetings from January 1 to mid-January, each shown for about two weeks.
Until the end of the year, large spherical tree ornaments, felt characters, and snow globes will be unveiled at weekly intervals, illuminating the Seokchon Lake area with vibrant lights. At the adjacent "Lake Bridge Gallery," beautiful Christmas-themed illustrations, such as snowy landscapes and line art, will also be showcased.
During the content exhibition period, the district and Getty will launch intensive promotional activities to raise awareness of both venues. Banners and standing signboards will be installed around the Lotte World Tower World Park area to indicate the locations of the two Christmas-themed facilities, and promotional materials will also be distributed.
Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "We are delighted to present unique and high-quality media art through our partnership with Getty Images Korea this year-end," adding, "In the new year, we will continue to discover media art content utilizing private resources to provide an even broader cultural and artistic experience."
"The Sphere," established this spring on the west side of Seokchon Lake, is a 7-meter-diameter spherical media art installation that presents 27 types of media art content, including themes such as the solar system and masterpieces. "Lake Bridge Gallery" is a massive media facade, 33 meters long and 4 meters high, brightly illuminating the underside of Jamsil Lake Bridge.
