Chuncheon City to Distribute 20-Liter Reusable Containers Starting on the 19th
Measures Introduced Following Results of Regional Manager System for Wood Boiler Farms
Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Yuk Donghan) is implementing a program to distribute reusable containers to farms that use wood boilers.

This initiative was established after it was found, during the operation of the wood boiler regional manager system in the autumn, that many farms either had outdated reusable containers or not enough of them. The wood boiler regional manager system involves wildfire monitoring personnel and village heads acting as regional managers, visiting farms at least once a month to inspect wood boiler usage and provide safety guidelines.
Inspections revealed that, in many cases, combustion residues were not disposed of properly, or temporary storage containers were too old to ensure safe use. Farms located near forests were found to face a higher risk of secondary fires and wildfires due to improper management of reusable containers.
In response, the city will distribute 20-liter reusable containers to strengthen safe combustion management for farms. The actual distribution will begin sequentially starting on the 19th. The containers will display messages such as "Prevent Wildfires" and "No Unauthorized Movement of Pine Trees" to promote wildfire prevention and help prevent the spread of pine wilt disease.
A city official stated, "By distributing reusable containers, we aim to enhance wildfire prevention and safety for farms and actively promote the avoidance of pine tree species as wood boiler fuel, so as to make a practical contribution to preventing the spread of pine wilt disease."
