The island's time begins to move once again. Life has been breathed back into Ulleungdo.
On December 12, Ulleung County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Nam Han-gwon) announced that the third supplementary budget for 2025 was reviewed and approved as originally proposed during the 290th regular session of the Ulleung County Council.
This budget totals 267.5 billion won, with 262.9 billion won allocated to the general account and 4.6 billion won to the special account. This represents an increase of 900 million won compared to the second supplementary budget.
By sector, the allocations are as follows: 31.4 billion won (11.7%) for agriculture, forestry, maritime, and fisheries; 31.1 billion won (11.6%) for land and regional development; 25.4 billion won (9.5%) for social welfare; 25.2 billion won (9.4%) for the environment; and 24.9 billion won (9.3%) for culture and tourism.
Through this supplementary budget, the county focused on minimizing unused and carried-over funds by reviewing projects that cannot be executed within the year and remaining budget balances, while ensuring the stable completion of pending projects.
Major projects include: 500 million won for the purchase of a multi-purpose snow removal vehicle; 500 million won for the expansion of the access road to Pyeongri Village; and 430 million won for the creation of youth learning spaces.
Governor Nam Han-gwon stated, "We have reduced unnecessary expenditures and allocated resources to areas in need of budgetary support, resulting in a sound and efficient budget."
