On December 12, the special investigation team of the National Police Agency announced that it had booked Jeon Jae-su, former Democratic Party lawmaker Lim Jongseong, and former United Future Party lawmaker Kim Gyuhwan as suspects following a preliminary investigation, and imposed an overseas travel ban on them. They are reportedly under suspicion of violating the Political Funds Act or accepting bribes.
Previously, it was reported that Yoon Youngho, former head of the Unification Church World Headquarters, mentioned Minister of Unification Jeong Dongyoung and People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyungwon to the special prosecutor's team along with the three individuals. However, it is understood that there was no specific mention of the exchange of money or valuables involving Jeong Dongyoung or Na Kyungwon.
The special investigation team visited Yoon Youngho, who is currently detained at Seoul Detention Center, the previous day and conducted an interview and investigation for about three hours.
