The Hwaseong City Agricultural Technology Center in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 12 that it has been selected as the top institution nationwide in the "2025 Rural Development Project Evaluation" organized by the Rural Development Administration.
This evaluation is conducted by the Rural Development Administration to boost morale and invigorate organizations by selecting outstanding agricultural technology centers that have contributed to the revitalization of rural development projects among 156 agricultural technology centers across the country.
The evaluation used performance indicators for outstanding local rural development institutions, assessing nine key criteria: expansion of the technological dissemination base, field adoption of new technologies, activation of rural resources, response to agricultural disasters, and fostering young farmers, among others.
The city received high marks for establishing a robust cooperation system with universities and private companies, strengthening the organizational and budgetary foundations for rural development projects, providing support to promote young farmers, and laying the groundwork for the operation of a technology dissemination support team, all of which enhanced its field distribution capabilities.
Hwaseong City also achieved strong results by rapidly applying new agricultural technologies in the region, leading to increased cultivation areas and a rise in the number of participating farms. The center also promoted the adoption of new technologies based on public-private cooperation, such as the distribution of strategic crops like powder rice.
Additionally, the center explained that it achieved excellent results in all nine evaluation indicators, including response to agricultural disasters, reduction of fine dust, promotion of urban agriculture, and utilization of agricultural science and technology information services.
Song Seongho, Director of the Hwaseong City Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Being selected as the top institution is the result of consistently communicating with farmers and solving challenges on the ground together. We will continue to expand field-oriented technology dissemination and systematic support."
