Neighbor in His 70s Stabbed to Death
The police have released the personal information of a suspect who brutally murdered an upstairs neighbor in Cheonan, Chungnam, citing inter-floor noise as the motive.
On December 11, the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency held a Personal Information Disclosure Review Committee and decided to disclose the personal information of Yang Minjun (47), including his face, name, and age. Yang's personal information will be posted on the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency website until January 9 of next year.

The review committee decided to disclose the information after comprehensively considering the brutality of the crime, the seriousness of the damage, and the opinions of the victim's family. According to the law on the disclosure of personal information of suspects in certain serious crimes, if the suspect objects to the committee's decision, there must be a five-day grace period before disclosure. However, since Yang did not file any objection, the information was released on the same day.
On December 4 at around 2:30 p.m., Yang Minjun allegedly visited the apartment above his own residence in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, and attacked his neighbor, a man in his 70s identified as Mr. A, with a weapon, resulting in charges of murder and special property damage. After being stabbed, Mr. A fled to the apartment management office and locked the door from inside.
Yang then reportedly drove his car into the management office door, broke it down, and attacked Mr. A again with the weapon. Mr. A was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but ultimately died. It was determined that Yang committed the crime after noise from construction work in Mr. A's home. The police, who have detained Yang, plan to refer him to the prosecution on December 12.
