Key Performance Differences in Maximum Surface Temperature, Temperature Deviation, and Heating Speed
As consumer interest in carbon electric mats (carbon mats), a popular winter heating appliance, continues to rise, the Korea Consumer Agency has released the results of quality and safety tests conducted on 10 carbon mat products. The evaluation revealed differences among products in terms of maximum surface temperature, temperature deviation, and heating speed.
Therefore, it is necessary for consumers to check whether a product is suitable for their intended usage environment and purpose before making a purchase. In particular, Kyungdong Navien's "Sookmyeon Mat Carbon" stood out among mid- to high-priced products.
According to the "Carbon Electric Mat Purchase and Selection Guide" distributed by the Korea Consumer Agency on December 11, along with the results of its carbon electric mat quality comparison, Kyungdong Navien's "Sookmyeon Mat Carbon" was selected as a product with a uniform surface temperature distribution and fast heating speed. Among mid- to high-priced premium products, it was noted for its rapid heating speed, precise temperature control in 0.5°C increments, and safety features.
The area in which Sookmyeon Mat Carbon excelled was heating speed. It took only 25 minutes for the mat's surface temperature to rise from 20°C to 35°C. This means that it can quickly reach the desired temperature, which is 9 minutes faster than the average of 34 minutes for similar mid- to high-priced products. In addition, the maximum set temperature was higher than other products at 50°C, and the actual maximum surface temperature also reached 51°C, demonstrating the closest match to the set temperature among the products tested.
Another feature of Sookmyeon Mat Carbon is its precise temperature control in 0.5°C increments. This sets it apart from products that adjust in 1 step or 1°C increments, allowing users to set their preferred temperature precisely from 28°C to 50°C. The temperature deviation depending on the mat's position was also minimal.
Its safety features are also noteworthy. The design does not place heating wires near the head, reducing the risk of electromagnetic waves, and it prevents heat buildup that can occur when using latex or memory foam pillows. The materials also differ from those of lower-priced products. The mat's bottom surface is finished with suede material, which provides an anti-slip effect.
