Narae Park's 'IV Mention' Video Suddenly Set to Private...Was It Due to Illegal Medical Allegations?

Allegations of Illegal Medical Services via "Injection Auntie" Spread

Broadcaster Narae Park has become embroiled in allegations of receiving illegal medical services through the so-called 'Injection Auntie,' and the controversy has intensified after the production team of MBC's variety show I Live Alone suddenly set to private a broadcast clip in which Park mentioned an intravenous drip.

On December 9, the I Live Alone team made part of the episode featuring Narae Park and Jung Jaehyung's kimchi-making segment from December of last year private on their YouTube channel. In particular, attention has focused on the background behind the deletion of the video titled "Narae Park × Jung Jaehyung reserving IV drips? Shaky legs after hours of making kimchi."

In the video, Jung Jaehyung says, "When you book the IV drip tomorrow, I need to get one too," to which Narae Park responds, "Okay, let's book the IV drips together." At the time of broadcast, this was taken as a joke about the exhaustion from making kimchi, but recently, as Park has become linked to allegations of illegal medical services, the video has resurfaced. Some have speculated that the video was proactively hidden due to potentially problematic content.

The controversy began when two of Park's former managers, after resigning last month, claimed that there had been verbal abuse, personal errands, and unpaid business expenses, and announced legal action. They have filed for a provisional seizure of real estate worth about 100 million won and have also initiated a lawsuit for damages.

In the process, suspicions arose that Narae Park had repeatedly received injection procedures and medication prescriptions from Mr. A, the 'Injection Auntie,' who does not hold a medical license in Korea.

Mr. A claimed to have graduated from Baogang Medical College in Inner Mongolia, China, but the doctors' group "Physicians for a Fair Society" pointed out that "the university is not registered with the Chinese government or any international medical education accreditation body," effectively calling it a "ghost medical school" that does not exist. They further explained, "Graduating from a Chinese medical school alone does not qualify one to take the Korean medical licensing exam."

Im Hyuntaek, former president of the Korean Medical Association, filed a complaint with the prosecution against Mr. A for violating the Medical Service Act, and the Korean Medical Association also issued a statement on December 8, declaring that "this is an illegal, unlicensed medical practice in violation of Article 27 of the Medical Service Act." They particularly emphasized, "There are indications that clonazepam, a psychotropic drug for which proxy and remote prescriptions are prohibited, and trazodone, a prescription-only medication, were used," and called for a thorough investigation and punishment.

As the controversy grew, Narae Park released an official statement on December 8, saying, "I believe I can no longer cause trouble for the program and my colleagues," and announced, "I will suspend all broadcasting activities until everything is clearly resolved." Accordingly, all production and release of her YouTube channel "Narae-sik" and new MBC variety show "Nado Shinna" have been completely halted.

Meanwhile, Seoul Gangnam Police Station has received a complaint from Park's former managers against her on charges of aggravated assault, defamation by spreading false information, and violation of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation).
