Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province is holding a "Donate to Gwangmyeong City This Christmas" event to promote the expansion of the Hometown Love Donation campaign during the year-end season.

Gwangmyeong City Holds Hometown Love Donation Christmas Event

The event runs from December 10 to December 24. Donors who contribute 100,000 won or more to the city through the Hometown Love Donation program will be entered into a drawing to receive a 5,000-won coffee gifticon.

Participants in the Hometown Love Donation program will be automatically entered into the event if they complete their donation and select a thank-you gift through the "Gohyangsarang-e(e)um" online platform or at an NH Nonghyup Bank branch.

To further encourage year-end donations, the city is also operating a special fundraising period for the Hometown Love Donation program until December 31.

The Hometown Love Donation program allows individuals to donate up to 20 million won per year to local governments other than their own place of residence. Donations are fully tax-deductible up to 100,000 won, and amounts exceeding this are eligible for a 16.5% tax deduction. Donors can also receive local specialty thank-you gifts, up to 30% of their donation amount.

The city offers various thank-you gifts for donors, including Gwangmyeong Sarang Local Currency, fresh pork belly and neck sets, Hoophup Bagel sets, pesticide-free pine mushrooms, handmade rice cookie snacks, and coffee drip bags.

Donations are used to support welfare programs for vulnerable groups, such as housing and education support for self-reliant youth, housing environment improvements for youth and adolescents caring for family members, and meal support for middle-aged single-person households through the "Golden Lunchbox" initiative.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, stated, "The Hometown Love Donation program is a way to share with the community and provide tangible benefits to donors. I hope many people will send their warm hearts during this year-end fundraising period."
