Helping marriage immigrants overcome language barriers and settle into the local community
The Geumsan County Family Center concluded its Korean language education program for marriage immigrants, which had been conducted since February this year, with a total of 1,184 participants.
This program was designed to help marriage immigrants overcome language barriers and settle into the local community in a stable manner.
The main programs consisted of 11 classes, including basic Korean, Korean for employment, and TOPIK (reading, writing, listening), providing customized, practical Korean language education tailored to different proficiency levels.
Participants included marriage immigrants from countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines, Brazil, and Morocco. By learning Korean, they gained confidence and improved their social communication skills.
The Geumsan County Family Center not only offers Korean language education for marriage immigrants, but also provides integrated family support services in the region, such as family counseling, education, and childcare.
Im Eunhee, an official from the Family Policy Division, stated, "Acquiring language skills is the most important factor for marriage immigrants to settle well in the community. Studying alone can be difficult and exhausting, but when people gather and study together, they can improve their skills much more quickly."
