Current Status of Electrical and Gas Facility Safety Management
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will conduct safety inspections of public sanitation businesses vulnerable to winter fires until the end of this month.
According to the city on December 8, the inspections will target a total of 23 public sanitation businesses, including lodging facilities and bathhouses located near residential areas, to identify potential fire hazards.
Of these, 21 establishments will be inspected directly by the city, while joint inspections of the remaining two will be conducted in cooperation with relevant agencies such as the Iksan Fire Station, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and Korea Gas Safety Corporation. The main inspection items include the adequacy of fire prevention equipment, the current status of electrical and gas facility safety management, and compliance with disaster response manuals.
In particular, the inspections will focus on fire-related factors such as the installation status of heating devices and the availability of fire extinguishers. The city also plans to check the sanitation conditions and management practices of the businesses to further improve public hygiene standards.
The city is continuously working to prevent winter disasters by cooperating with the local branch of the public sanitation business association to distribute fire prevention leaflets and strengthen self-management by businesses.
A city official stated, "The risk of fire increases in winter due to the greater use of heating devices and dry weather. We will do our utmost to ensure the safety of public sanitation businesses, which are used by many citizens, through thorough inspections."
