Jeong Cheongrae Nominates Lee Jaeyoung, Head of Yangsan-gap Regional Committee, as Director of Democratic Research Institute

"Lee Jaeyoung, an Economic Expert"

Lee Jaeyoung, the head of the Yangsan-gap regional committee, has been nominated as the new director of the Democratic Research Institute, the think tank of the Democratic Party of Korea.

On December 8 at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Park Suhyeon, chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, met with reporters after the Supreme Council meeting and stated, "Today, Party Leader Jeong Cheongrae nominated Lee Jaeyoung, head of the Democratic Party's Yangsan-gap regional committee, as the new director of the Democratic Research Institute, which has been vacant."


Chief Spokesperson Park explained, "Lee Jaeyoung, the newly nominated director, is a politician with an academic background in international economics. He majored in business administration at Hanyang University and received his doctorate from Moscow State University. He previously served as the president of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy and is recognized as an economic expert."


Chairman Lee is a native of Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, having been born and raised there. He reportedly entered politics through the Democratic Party's talent recruitment program for the 21st general election. Chief Spokesperson Park added, "He has run as a candidate for the National Assembly in the Yangsan-gap district in two general elections, taking on the challenge of overcoming regionalism."
