The Chinese Ministry of National Defense has announced that China and Russia have conducted a joint missile defense exercise.
On December 6, the Chinese Ministry of National Defense stated via social media, "In early December, the armed forces of China and Russia held the third joint missile defense exercise within Russian territory," adding, "This exercise was not aimed at any third country and is unrelated to the current international or regional situation."
This took place immediately after China and Russia held high-level defense and foreign affairs talks last month, during which they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in missile defense and joint military exercises.
China and Russia are deepening their military cooperation as the United States moves forward with plans to build the next-generation missile defense system known as the 'Golden Dome.'
In August, the two countries conducted a five-day regular joint exercise, "Maritime Joint-2025," in the East Sea near Korea. Afterwards, they moved to the Pacific Ocean and carried out joint maritime patrols in October 2021, September 2022, July 2023, as well as in July and September-October of last year.
