Lee Guyoun Announces Appointment in December 7 Briefing
"Candidate Kim Is the Right Person to Restore Public Trust"
On December 7, President Lee Jaemyung nominated attorney Kim Hocheol as the new candidate for Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection.
Lee Guyoun, Senior Secretary for Public Relations at the Presidential Office, announced this during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the same day.
Senior Secretary Lee introduced, "Candidate Kim has served as Chairman of the National Police Commission, Co-Representative of the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements, and President of Lawyers for a Democratic Society," adding, "He is a prominent human rights lawyer who has taken the lead in upholding public interest and social values."
He further commented, "He is expected to be the right person and an expert who will firmly restore the constitutional values of political neutrality, independence, and public trust in the Board of Audit and Inspection by normalizing its operations."
The Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection is appointed by the President after a National Assembly confirmation hearing, and the term of office is four years.
