At approximately 1:46 a.m. on December 7, 2025, a three-vehicle collision occurred near Munsan Interchange (IC) on the Namhae Expressway heading toward Busan in Jinju, Gyeongnam.
According to the 6th Highway Patrol Division of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, on the third lane of this road, a 3-ton truck driven by a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, rear-ended a 1-ton truck driven by a woman in her 50s, identified as Ms. B.
Due to the impact of the accident, Ms. B's 1-ton truck toppled to the right, straddling both the first and second lanes, and was subsequently struck again by a passenger car driven by a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. C, who was traveling in the first lane.
As a result of the accident, Ms. B sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital unconscious, while a female passenger in her 70s who was riding with Ms. B was pronounced dead.
To handle the aftermath of the accident, the fourth lane was fully closed for about 30 minutes before being reopened around 3 a.m.
The police plan to conduct a thorough investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning the drivers involved.
