Appeared on a Street Math Challenge in January
Solved a Calculus Problem in Seconds, Instantly Saying "Correct Answer"
Choi Jangwoo, a third-year student at Gwangju Seoseok High School who achieved perfect scores in all subjects on the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test, is drawing attention for his math skills showcased in a YouTube video earlier this year.
In January, Choi appeared in a street math challenge held in downtown Gwangju by educational content creator 'Mimiminu.' The challenge involved citizens solving randomly selected math problems on the spot.

During his appearance, Choi confidently introduced himself as having a perfect 1.00 GPA, being ranked first in his school, serving as the student council president at Gwangju Seoseok High School, and chairing the Gwangju City High School Student Council. He then chose Mathematics II as his strongest subject and immediately began solving a calculus problem. Less than ten seconds after seeing the problem, he gave the correct answer, surprising those around him. He also solved a polynomial function problem with ease and provided the correct answer.
The video gained further attention because of a comment Choi himself left. He wrote, "I'm Choi Jangwoo from Gwangju Seoseok High School, wearing a blue jumper in the middle of the video," and added, "I always watched Minu on YouTube, so it was an honor to meet him in person and participate. Next time, I’ll do my best so I can return for an interview as a perfect scorer on the College Scholastic Ability Test."

As he declared, Choi recently achieved perfect scores in all sections of the test. He expressed his gratitude, saying, "I was able to achieve this great result thanks to my parents, who have always supported me, and my teachers, who provided systematic instruction." As news of his perfect score spread, the video received a flood of congratulatory comments. Online users responded with messages such as, "I saw the comment saying you'd return for an interview as a perfect scorer, and you really did it-amazing," "Please come back and share your study tips as a perfect scorer," and "I came here as a pilgrimage to a legendary video."
Choi has applied for early admission to the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, completed his interview, and is now waiting for the results. He is reportedly planning to prepare for the higher civil service examination in the future. It is the first time in ten years, since 2015, that a student from Gwangju has achieved perfect scores in all subjects on the College Scholastic Ability Test.
