On December 5, President Lee Jaemyung dismissed Hyungseok Kang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, from his position by executive authority.
The Office of the President issued a press release on the same day, stating that Vice Minister Kang was found to have violated the law by exercising his authority unjustly and engaging in inappropriate conduct. The office explained that he was dismissed by executive authority following an internal inspection.
The Office of the President also emphasized that the Lee Jaemyung administration will continue to strictly address violations of regulations by high-ranking officials in each ministry in order to establish discipline within the public sector and ensure administration that meets public expectations.
However, the Office of the President did not disclose the specific reasons for Vice Minister Kang's dismissal, citing the confidential nature of the inspection.
Vice Minister Kang entered public service after passing the 38th administrative examination. He held key positions within the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs before being appointed as Vice Minister under the Lee Jaemyung administration on June 20, 2025.
