Coupang's daily user count has shifted to a decline after four days, according to recent findings. Although the number of users continued to rise even after the large-scale personal information leak on November 29, it began to decrease after four days.

According to data from mobile analytics company IGAWorks Mobile Index on December 5, Coupang's daily active users (DAU) on December 2 totaled 17,804,511. This represents a sharp drop of more than 180,000 compared to the all-time high of 17,988,845 users recorded on December 1.

Nevertheless, the number of daily users remained in the 17 million range. Coupang has recorded over 17 million daily users for three consecutive days since November 30.

Some predict that this could lead to a mass exodus of Coupang users. There are concerns that customer loyalty may decrease among consumers disappointed by the exposure of personal information and Coupang’s subsequent response.

The withdrawal process is considered excessively complicated, prompting a factual investigation into whether it constitutes an “act restricting users’ right to cancel,” which is prohibited under the Telecommunications Business Act. In practice, when attempting to withdraw via the PC interface, users must go through six steps: My Coupang → Check/Modify Personal Information → Enter Password → Click ‘Withdraw Membership’ at the bottom of the screen → Re-enter Password → Check Coupang Usage History → Complete Survey, before they can apply for membership withdrawal.

One user commented, “When I tried to withdraw, it was hard to even find the option, and the button was made intentionally small. You have to enter your password twice and even complete a survey, so it seems nearly impossible for people who aren’t familiar with the internet.”
