Discovery of Jungnangcheon River Land
Achievements in Establishing Real Estate Information Platform
Seongbuk District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seungro) has been selected as the top district in the 2025 Land and Cadastral Management Work Assessment organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The district has demonstrated outstanding capabilities in the field of land and cadastral administration, earning the top distinction for three consecutive years since 2023.
Each year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government conducts a comprehensive evaluation of 25 districts, covering five areas: land policy, real estate appraisal, real estate management, real estate information, and spatial surveying.
Seongbuk District newly identified and registered as national land a 9,555-square-meter (two parcels) section of Jungnangcheon river land in Seokgwan-dong that had been omitted for 110 years. The officially assessed land value is approximately 8 billion KRW. In addition, the district changed the land category of 90 government- or publicly-owned parcels, which had remained classified as farmland or rice paddies within the city, to reflect their actual use as roads, rivers, and other purposes, thereby improving asset management efficiency. As a result of these achievements, the district received the highest evaluation in the land policy category.
The district also received high marks in the real estate information provision category. Seongbuk District established a “Real Estate Content Sharing Platform” to promptly deliver customized real estate policies for single-person households and information on revised laws. By organizing complex civil petition forms and procedures with examples and providing them online, as well as distributing booklets and leaflets at the district office and local community centers, the district improved information accessibility.
Lee Seungro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, stated, “Seongbuk District’s outstanding capabilities in land and cadastral administration have been recognized both domestically and internationally for three consecutive years,” adding, “We will continue to do our utmost to protect the valuable assets of our residents and provide even better administrative services.”
