As heavy snow fell in Seoul, the police activated an emergency traffic control system and began urgent measures such as restricting access to hazardous areas to ensure public safety.
On December 4, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that, due to heavier-than-expected snowfall across the city, it was prioritizing the restriction of major roads and activating an emergency traffic control system led by each police station chief, with all departments fully mobilized in response.
As of 9:30 p.m. on the same day, the police were restricting access to 16 sections, including Gamsawon-gil, the entry ramps to the Naebu Expressway and Bukbu Expressway, and the entrance to Inwangsan-gil.
The police urged citizens to drive with particular caution, advising them to avoid roads with a high risk of traffic accidents due to snowfall and icy conditions.
A police official stated, "Even after the snow stops, we will conduct repeated patrols during tomorrow morning's commute to prevent accidents in icy areas," adding, "We will actively respond to reports of traffic disruptions caused by the snow, so please report any necessary matters to the police."
