The Overseas Cultural Heritage Foundation announced on December 4 that Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has donated 200 million won to support the repatriation and utilization of Korean cultural heritage located overseas.
Korean cultural heritage scattered across 29 countries, including Japan and the United States, amounts to 247,718 items. This figure is based on a survey of 801 institutions such as museums and art galleries as of January 1 this year. Given the nature of cultural heritage, where collection information is not always clearly disclosed, the actual number is likely even higher.
Yoon Doohyun, President of GKL, stated, "It is an important responsibility for public enterprises to participate in protecting and promoting our cultural heritage abroad."
